A Welcome from Joan Ward

Hello! My book Living With Arabs was published by Amazon in 2014. If it had simply been a story of my adventures – being stung by a scorpion and killing a deadly snake - with pen-portraits of my Bedouin friends and neighbours, I would not have written it, nor would I presume to give talks about it. Its importance lies in the light it sheds on Middle East news and the way in which it explains aspects of the lives of our Moslem neighbours.

As you will see, there is much more to me than the book. My life, which has been described as 'inspirational', has led to media interest. [See News and Blog] In addition, Candis magazine will feature me in its August issue.

I have survived cancer, injustice and three marriages. I celebrated my 70th birthday by spending 7 weeks on a container ship. I know how to live without fear. Please use these pages to comment or ask questions – and keep an eye on my blogs!

This film was made in 2011. It is in four parts: at home in the Bedouin village, a visit to friends in their goats' hair tent, visiting Petra on an unusually rainy day and looking over the Jordan Valley at sunset.
